I have to agree with Jaclydemore that I am, indeed Lydia Teh’s die-hard fan. Jaclydemore(what a long name), a reader who have read my past three blogs and a friend of mine, emailed me recently, “You bought Lydia Teh’s book(again!)? Wow, she would be proud to have such young ,supportive fan like you!”

If you measure the ‘die-hard-fan-meter’ by buygin ‘Lydia Teh IS HOT!’ clothes and going to ger every talk, spying her in front of her houses everyday, then perhaps my rank stood as the lowest. But, I do buy all her books. She might be a typical mother just like my own sweet mummie, but it is simply amazing that she can squeeze in her time, writing and producing such great books.

Since the release of her latest hit, The Wordy Tales of Eh Poh Nim or I call it tenderly ‘Do You Wear Suspenders?’(the comic pic in the cover) for short, I have been waiting for it to arrive in Popular Bookstores in Old Klang Road. Sadly, Popular can be quite inefficient in handling new books(especially in small areas like here). Wish there is an MPH(kindly referred to as Mental Patient Hospital by students like me, but actually it is just MPH Bookstores) instead.

Finally, after three weeks of agony(and pimple and wrinkles), Lydia Teh’s book hit the stupid store and I bought it instantly with my hard earn cash. I was a bit stunned as the price has increased(a lot!). Don’t know it is Popular or Lydia’s publisher.

I dug into the book although it was exam week(shhh…mum’s reading…). I finished it within three days. And here’s what I thought of this book.

-About 10% of the ‘tales’ in there are lame. No offense but I meant that the jokes did not reach me Maybe those tales have another hidden meaning behind them, but from a teenager’s concept, they appear a bit too far-fetched.

-I don’t understand 20% of the tales.

-90% of them are funny, especially when Poh Nim is with Poh Lun, her sister.

-20% of the book has romantic edges. Her( I mean, Poh Nim obviously) romantic scenes with Gene Rick are anticipating. The best part is in ‘Sufficient Enough Words’ when Gene Rick points out that there is a small speck of blood on Poh Nim’s dress. The way Lydia Teh bring it on is very intriguing.

- The quiz were a bit tough for teens but the new words do provide new outlook.

-Good collection of anecdotes that you would not recognize(and appear weird) but once you get used to it, it could be fun.

Buy this(and every single book by Lydia), you will never be disappointed.
